Waikato Family Centre: Nurturing Futures Through Compassionate Care
Thanks to your generous support, the Waikato Family Centre has continued to be a lifeline for families/whānau across the region—providing vital child and maternal health services to communities from Thames to Tokoroa and beyond. Your contribution directly funded core operating costs, allowing our team to focus on what matters most: empowering parents and supporting babies and children under two.
In 2024 alone, our Registered Nurses cared for 831 new families, with over 5,000 presentations. Whether through daily in-person visits or phone consultations for those in isolated areas, our care is tailored to meet each family’s unique needs. From feeding support and allergy management to toddler challenges and introducing solids, we offer practical, compassionate guidance every step of the way.
The first 1,000 days of a child’s life are critical for long-term wellbeing. With your help, we’ve provided early intervention that lays the foundation for healthy, thriving futures. Your funding also enabled us to offer timely perinatal mental health support—bridging the gap for parents facing anxiety, depression, birth trauma, or self-harm. Specialist counselling from our Perinatal Clinical Nurse and ACT therapist has made a real difference.
Additionally, the W.A.I Hapori Parenting Programme in Huntly continues to reach whānau facing transport and isolation barriers, delivering empowering, hands-on support.
Your generosity sustains this gold-standard care, helping families across the Waikato region feel confident, connected, and supported. Thank you for being part of their journey.
