Hope Rising Farm: Growing Confidence, Connection, and Community

This past year, Hope Rising Farm has flourished—thanks to the generous support of the Common Good grant, which covered core operational costs and allowed us to focus on what truly matters: walking alongside tamariki, rangatahi, and wahine facing significant challenges.

Our farm-based programmes offer more than just fresh air and pony rides. They provide a safe, nurturing space where participants build resilience, gain practical skills, and experience a sense of belonging. Many arrive feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, but leave with renewed hope and a stronger belief in themselves—rippling into their families, schools, and wider communities.

The grant also helped us deepen partnerships with schools and community services, ensuring that those most in need are referred and supported. The impact is tangible and transformative.

One young participant joined to work on managing overwhelming emotions. Initially withdrawn and needing frequent breaks, he slowly gained confidence through consistent mentoring and interaction with the ponies. Today, he’s thriving—engaging fully in sessions and managing better in class.

Another student, after just four weeks at the farm, has blossomed. She now speaks confidently in front of her class, embraces new challenges, and eagerly shares her farm experiences with her peers. Her excitement and growth are a testament to the power of connection and care.

Hope Rising Farm continues to be a place where healing happens, confidence grows, and lives are changed—one hoofbeat at a time.
