Meet John: a friend of Orange Sky

John currently lives in his car – but it's not the first time he's been in this situation.

It’s been like this on and off for John over the past decade, as finding a place to call home becomes increasingly harder. John works whenever he can, and does a lot of volunteering in the community. We’re all feeling the rising cost of living in our own way, but for friends experiencing homelessness or hardship – it’s getting worse.

"I've been living in my car for 10 years now. It's hard. Really hard! It's a hard problem to get a place to stay. I’ve got a disability and I've been on the waiting list for six years. I still haven’t got a place." - John.

Despite all the hardship he has faced, our volunteers share that John helps others and looks out for them.

“I think John's amazing because we obviously have got to know him through Orange Sky, but he's an amazing individual. He does so much for other people. John's been so open and warm with us, but also is an incredibly respectful person. That makes it a lovely relationship. It’s always a pleasure to see him.” - Adam, Orange Sky Volunteer.
