The Common Good Foundation were very grateful for the introduction to Papatūānuku Support Services (PSS) which came through their application for funding in 2024. Papatūānuku Support Services applied for funding for Te Hāpai Mokopuna (THM), a programme aimed at providing tailored support to tamariki aged 7-12.
Building Stronger Connections With Whānau And Community
THM's is designed with a deep desire to build connections—bridging tamariki with whānau, schools, and community agencies. Starting with only four young tāne, the programme's efforts focus on one-to-one mentoring and small group interventions. The relationships are multidimensional, enriching the experience by valuing each child's unique context. The interweaving of these components creates an environment where tamariki feel understood and supported across different life settings.
Utilising Te Whare Tapa Whā
A key feature of the THM programme is its use of Te Whare Tapa Whā, a Māori health model, to create benchmarks for assessing wellbeing in tamariki. It's a unique approach that incorporates the physical, mental, spiritual, and whānau aspects of wellbeing. This method is crucial in understanding the wide-ranging needs of children. We look forward to hearing and learning more as the programme continues.
